The Abuse and Rape Highland Women blog is born

This idea has been lingering in my mind for quite a time. It became real when I started supporting the “We believe you” campaign launched by http://www.mumsnet.com/ and Rape Crisis (http://www.rapecrisisscotland.org.uk/), I found that many women felt confident in telling their stories anonymously and they were clearly to reach out and find emotional support.

I also realised that in the Highlands of Scotland many raped and abused women lack support because everyone lives isolated by the others, especially to come forward and speak about what they had suffered is difficult. Women don’t know which path they should follow to recover or which organizations they can contact (even anonymously) in case they feel they’ve been abused or raped.

I’ve been abused for one year by my ex boyfriend and I was also raped few times by him. My situation was desperate and at the moment I’m posting on here it still is, it seems that coming forward nearly became useless too because police dropped the charges against my ex after 2 days he had been questioned at the police station, turning on me and accusing me of false allegations.

I also discovered that our local press doesn’t show empathy to raped and abused women or it isn’t much helpful in case you’re thinking it’s a good idea to contact a journalist. But this COULD change if we fight united. On our own… we’re just like a turf where abusers, rapists and even our justice system can step over as much as they like.

I know where truth lies so I’m gaining strenght again. I never stopped fighting, I still think that what I did was the right thing to do.

Welcome to my new blog

Oh my God, I left this poor blog uncared of for so long….it wasn’t right ;)

So new blog, new challenge… for people redirected here from Merlin and the Round Table Knights’ blog, well this is a different blog.. it’s about creating a net to help women in the Highlands who found themselves lost after being abused or raped, helping them to access the counselling serves and the IT resources all over the net.

Please sign up, it’s important and you really can make a difference in somebody else’s life. I’m also trying to set up a Justgiving account, so that we can receive donations for few organizations like Scottish Women’s Aid Caithness and Sutherland, Scottish Women’s Aid Ross-shire, RAL Rape and Abuse Line.

Standing up for your rights isn’t a shame.
